Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Submission Requirements

Authors must submit their manuscript in DOCX format only. Only digitally typed manuscripts will be accepted.

The publishing process begins with the author completing the Vayu Ink onboarding form. After submission of the onboarding form, Vayu Ink will contact the author regarding the further publishing process.

The manuscript must be complete at the time of submission. The applicable minimum and maximum manuscript length or page count will be determined according to the author's subscribed publishing package.

2. Manuscript Formatting

Detailed manuscript formatting requirements will be discussed with the author during the publishing process and on the publishing call.

3. Author and Book Information

Authors are required to provide the following information:

Author Information

• Full legal name

• Pen name / author name

• Phone / WhatsApp number

• Email address

• Postal address

• Bank details for royalty transfers

Book Information

• Book title

• Subtitle

• Category

• Target MRP

• Binding style

• Book description / blurb

• Short book description / synopsis

An author biography is required.

An author photograph is not required.

4. Copyright and Originality

The submitted manuscript must be the author's original work.

If the manuscript contains copyrighted material belonging to another person or entity without the necessary permission, the manuscript may be rejected.

The author is responsible for obtaining permission to use any third-party copyrighted material, including applicable photographs, illustrations, quotations, excerpts, or other material. Proof of such permission must be submitted to Vayu Ink.

The author must confirm that the manuscript does not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.

Vayu Ink reserves the right to reject a manuscript where copyright, originality, or related legal concerns arise.

5. Editing and Proofreading

Vayu Ink provides editing services as part of the publishing package.

Vayu Ink does not provide proofreading services.

The author remains responsible for the final accuracy of the manuscript, including its content and information.

After editing, the manuscript will be provided to the author for review and approval before publication.

The number of author correction/revision rounds included will depend on the author's subscribed package.

Substantial changes requested by the author after the manuscript has entered the production stage may be subject to additional charges.

6. Cover and Book Design

Vayu Ink provides book cover design as part of the publishing package.

Vayu Ink also provides interior book layout and typesetting.

Authors may provide their own cover design. Any author-provided cover design must be approved by Vayu Ink before publication.

The number of cover design concepts/revisions included will depend on the subscribed package.

The number of interior design/layout revisions included will depend on the subscribed package.

Authors may provide their own images and illustrations for use in the book.

7. Publishing Process and Author Approval

After manuscript submission, Vayu Ink will review the manuscript before accepting it for publication.

The author will be informed about the publishing process and its stages.

Author approval is required at the typesetting stage.

Final author approval is mandatory before the book proceeds to publication/printing.

Once final approval has been given, the book will be considered locked for publication/printing and no further author-initiated changes can be requested.

8. ISBN, Copyright, and Legal Publishing Details

Vayu Ink does not provide or apply for an ISBN.

ISBN is not provided under the Vayu Ink publishing model, which operates on a Print-on-Demand basis to reduce paper wastage.

The author will be listed as the copyright holder and will retain copyright ownership of the manuscript and book.

The author is required to provide a copyright declaration.

Vayu Ink will provide the legal/copyright page for the book.

9. Printing and Print-on-Demand

All books will be printed exclusively through Print-on-Demand.

There is no minimum order quantity for authors.

Authors may order copies for personal use and may order additional copies at any time after publication.

The complimentary copies promised under the subscribed Vayu Ink publishing package will be provided free of cost.

The author is responsible for the final approval of the physical/printed book.

If an author identifies an error after printing, Vayu Ink can work on the correction at a charge of ₹500 per correction session.

10. Distribution and Sales

Books will be distributed through the Vayu Ink storefront.

Distribution through the Vayu Ink storefront is included in the publishing package.

Authors may sell their books directly through the Vayu Ink web store.

Vayu Ink will handle the listing/uploading of the book on its web store.

The final selling price/MRP will be decided by the author.

Authors will receive royalties from book sales.

The royalty calculation will be:

Net Payout = 90% × {0.75 × (Retail Price − Print Cost)}

Royalties will be paid monthly.

There is no minimum royalty payout threshold.

11. Author Copies and Delivery

Complimentary author copies are included in each publishing package.

Complimentary copies will be delivered to the author's postal address, and Vayu Ink will bear the shipping/delivery cost for these complimentary copies.

Additional copies ordered by the author will be priced as:

Printing Cost + Fulfillment Cost + Delivery Charges

The author will bear the shipping/delivery costs for additional copies.

The estimated delivery timeline for author copies is 10–13 days from the date of ordering.

Authors may order additional copies at any time after publication.

12. Changes, Corrections, and Final Approval

Before final approval, the author may request corrections to the manuscript, cover, and typesetting.

The number of correction/revision rounds included will depend on the subscribed package.

For post-printing corrections, a correction session refers only to corrections in the manuscript.

The charge of ₹500 per correction session applies to each post-printing manuscript correction session, regardless of the number of corrections included within that session.

Once final approval is given, the book will be considered locked for publication/printing and no further author-initiated changes can be requested.

If a correction is required because of an error introduced by Vayu Ink, the ₹500 correction charge will not apply.

13. Author Responsibilities and Declarations

The author is responsible for ensuring that all information, claims, facts, quotations, references, and other content in the manuscript are accurate.

The author is responsible for obtaining permissions for photographs, illustrations, quotations, excerpts, and other third-party material.

The author must provide proof of such permissions to Vayu Ink.

The author is responsible for ensuring that the book does not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, defamation, or any other legal rights.

The author must provide all required information, materials, documents, and approvals within the timelines communicated by Vayu Ink.

Vayu Ink may suspend or delay the publishing process if the author does not provide the required information, materials, documents, or approvals.

14. Publishing Timeline

Vayu Ink will provide the author with an estimated publishing timeline after manuscript acceptance.

The publishing timeline will depend on the manuscript and the time required for editing.

The publishing timeline begins after payment and manuscript acceptance.

Delays caused by the author, including delays in providing corrections, approvals, information, or documents, may extend the publishing timeline.

Delays caused by printing, logistics, technical issues, or other circumstances beyond Vayu Ink's control may also extend the publishing timeline.

Vayu Ink will communicate significant delays to the author.

15. Payment and Package Terms

Full payment is required before the publishing process begins.

Publishing packages are charged on a per-title basis.

Authors may upgrade their publishing package, provided the upgrade is requested before manuscript acceptance.

The upgrade amount will be the difference between the original package amount and the upgraded package amount.

Services outside the subscribed package will be charged separately.

Any additional charges will be communicated to and approved by the author before the work is undertaken.

Publishing payments are non-refundable after manuscript acceptance.

16. Cancellation and Termination

The author may cancel the publishing process after payment but before manuscript acceptance.

Once the manuscript has been accepted, the author cannot cancel the publishing process.

If the author cancels before manuscript acceptance, 60% of the total amount paid will be refundable, subject to the refund terms stated below.

Vayu Ink may terminate or reject the publishing process if copyright, originality, legal, or other serious concerns arise.

Vayu Ink may also terminate the process if the author repeatedly fails to provide required information, materials, or approvals.

If Vayu Ink terminates the process, the author will be informed of the reason.

17. Refund Terms

If the author cancels before manuscript acceptance, 60% of the total amount paid will be refunded.

The refund will be processed through bank transfer.

Approved refunds will be processed within 2–3 business days.

If the author has upgraded the package before cancellation, the refund will be 60% of the total amount paid.

Once the manuscript has been accepted, no refund will be provided.

18. Communication and Author Support

Official communication between Vayu Ink and the author will take place through WhatsApp and email, with phone calls when necessary.

Important publishing updates will be communicated through WhatsApp.

Authors are expected to respond to Vayu Ink communications within one hour.

Delayed responses from the author may extend the publishing timeline.

Vayu Ink will provide a designated contact person/team for publishing-related communication.

Vayu Ink will provide support to the author throughout the publishing process.

19. Confidentiality and Author Data

Vayu Ink will keep the author's manuscript and submitted personal information confidential.

Access to the manuscript and author information will be limited to the publishing team.

Vayu Ink may share relevant information with third-party service providers when required for publishing, printing, distribution, payment, or related services.

Vayu Ink may use the author's name, book title, cover, and book details for promotional purposes.

The author will be informed before such promotional use.

The author may request that their book not be used for promotional purposes.

20. Dispute Resolution and General Terms

Any dispute between Vayu Ink and an author will first be addressed through mutual discussion.

Legal disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Vayu Ink may update or modify its policies from time to time.

Authors will be informed of relevant policy updates.

Before proceeding with the publishing process, the author must acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Author Guidelines.

By proceeding with the Vayu Ink publishing process, the author acknowledges and agrees to comply with the applicable requirements, responsibilities, terms, and conditions stated in these Author Guidelines.
