Royalty Policy

1. Purpose

This Royalty Policy sets out the basis on which Vayu Ink calculates and pays royalties to authors for the sale of their published books.

The policy applies to eligible sales of print books and eBooks published and distributed through Vayu Ink.

2. Print Book Royalty

For print books, the author’s Net Payout will be calculated using the following formula:

Net Payout = 90% × {0.75 × (Retail Price − Print Cost)}

For the purpose of royalty calculation, the Net Sale for a print book is:

Net Sale = 0.75 × (Retail Price − Print Cost)

Vayu Ink will pay the author 90% of the calculated Net Sale.

The remaining 10% of the calculated Net Sale will be retained by Vayu Ink.

Example

If:

• Retail Price = ₹500

• Print Cost = ₹200

Then:

Net Sale = 0.75 × (₹500 − ₹200)
Net Sale = 0.75 × ₹300 = ₹225

Author’s Net Payout:

90% × ₹225 = ₹202.50

Therefore, the author receives ₹202.50 per qualifying sale.

3. eBook Royalty

For eBooks, the author’s Net Payout will be calculated using the following formula:

Net Payout = 90% × {0.90 × Retail Price}

The Net Sale for an eBook will therefore be:

Net Sale = 0.90 × Retail Price

Vayu Ink will pay the author 90% of the calculated Net Sale.

The remaining 10% of the calculated Net Sale will be retained by Vayu Ink.

Example

If:

• eBook Retail Price = ₹200

Then:

Net Sale = 0.90 × ₹200 = ₹180

Author’s Net Payout:

90% × ₹180 = ₹162

Therefore, the author receives ₹162 per qualifying eBook sale.

4. Monthly Royalty Settlement

Royalty calculations and payments will be processed monthly.

The royalty payable to the author will be based on the qualifying sales recorded during the applicable settlement period.

Vayu Ink will calculate the applicable Net Sale and the author’s 90% Net Payout according to the formulas stated in this policy.

5. No Minimum Payout Threshold

There is no minimum payout threshold under this royalty policy.

Any royalty amount payable to the author will be included in the applicable monthly settlement, regardless of the amount.

Print Book:

7. Author Royalty

The author’s royalty under this policy is the 90% Net Payout calculated after applying the applicable Net Sale formula.

Vayu Ink retains the remaining 10% of the applicable Net Sale.

8. Applicability

This royalty policy applies to sales made through the distribution and sales channels covered by Vayu Ink’s publishing and distribution arrangements.

The royalty calculation will be based on the actual Retail Price, applicable Print Cost, and qualifying sales recorded for the relevant settlement period.

9. Policy Transparency

Vayu Ink will maintain the applicable sales and royalty calculation records necessary to determine the author’s monthly royalty.

The author’s royalty statement may reflect the number of qualifying units sold, applicable Retail Price, Print Cost where applicable, Net Sale, and final Net Payout.

Therefore:

Author Net Payout = 90% × {0.75 × (Retail Price − Print Cost)}

eBooks

Net Sale = 0.90 × Retail Price

Author Net Payout = 90% × Net Sale

Therefore:

Author Net Payout = 90% × {0.90 × Retail Price}

11. Effective Royalty Structure

Under this policy, Vayu Ink provides authors with a 90% share of the applicable Net Sale, with the Net Sale calculated differently for print books and eBooks as specified above.

Royalty settlements are made monthly, and no minimum payout threshold applies.
